Creativity and plagiarism appear to be inversely related, just as originality and influence are standardly taken to be mutually exclusive. Bob Dylan’s career and work, however, lend themselves to ways of thinking about plagiarism, creativity, influence and originality, which go against the grain of received opinion.

This paper was submitted to the International Integrity & Plagiarism Conference which ran between 2004-2014. The paper was peer reviewed by an independent editorial board and features in the conference proceedings.
